About the artists:
Family Heirloom Weavers (Kline Family) located in Red Lion, PA produce coverlets & table runners that are woven in two halves and hand seamed together just as they were in 1800's.
{Kline Family Weavers Photo} This unique, family-operated business specializes in weaving on vintage looms to produce fabrics from America’s past. The ShowHouse, located in a restored log house, features quality reproductions.
Family Heirloom Weavers’ goods have been used in the restored homes of presidents, such as Abraham Lincoln and George Washington, and America’s favorite author Mark Twain. The fabrics are a employed by Civil War re-enactors who strive for authenticity and Hollywood has sought Family Heirloom Weavers’ products, which have been featured recently in films, such as “Gods & Generals,” “Cold Mountain” and “The Alamo.”
The Kline family donated (1) queen, and (1) child size coverlet. These coverlets are direct copies of coverlets woven by local weavers over a century ago. A unique feature offered with these Jacquard coverlets is a personalized corner block with a customer's name. We chose a personalized Snyder County Historical Society coverlet for our 2006 coverlet prizes.
